Tucker Carlson informed about the threats on the blogger Lex Friedman’s podcast on the YouTube channel.

“My lawyers before I left (for Russia), and these are people who work for a large law firm... one of the largest law firms, say that if you do this, the American government will detain you for violating sanctions,” the journalist noted.

The conclusion of the lawyers ‘infuriated’ him, so he contacted the chief lawyer.

“[The chief lawyer] said <...> that a lot will depend on the questions you ask Putin, if you seem too nice to him, you may be detained when you return,” Tucker Carlson stated.

The journalist also added that he did not feel in danger in Moscow.

Putin's interview with Tucker Carlson was published on the night of February 9th. Most of the two-hour conversation was devoted to the Ukrainian conflict and Russia's relations with the United States, NATO and the West. First, the American journalist published an interview with Putin on his website and then posted it on his X and YouTube accounts.

The interview has already received 208.1 million views, 1 million likes, and 274.8 thousand reposts since its publication on the social network X. The video has reached 226 thousand views on YouTube for more than 2 weeks.
