Trump: US does not want war with China, but ready for it
US President Donald Trump said that the United States would not like to wage war with China, but the US armed forces are well equipped for such a confrontation, TASS reports
During a speech to reporters together with Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth in the Oval Office of the White House, the American leader stressed, “We don’t want to have a potential war with China, but I can tell you, if we did, we’re very well equipped to handle it. However, I don’t want to show that to anybody – but certainly, you wouldn’t show it to a businessman who is helping us so much. He [Elon Musk – TASS’s remark] is a great patriot. He pays a high price for helping us cut costs, and he does a great job. He finds huge embezzlement, fraud and abuse.”
Donald Trump added that Elon Musk visited the Pentagon solely for the purpose of discussing government spending through the Department of Government Efficiency he oversees.
Pete Hegseth added that Elon Musk visited the Pentagon, and the issues of effective budget spending were discussed during his visit, “He provides many opportunities that our government and the armed forces rely on, and I am grateful to him for this. We have today invited him to the Pentagon to talk about DOGE, efficiency, and innovation. It was a great informal conversation. The rest of the story [published by The New York Times] is a lie. There were no military plans, no war with China, no secret plans. That's not what we did at the Pentagon.”
