Triple standards

California — migrants — secession… Is such a thing possible?

Another June cover of Time magazine is devoted to the Trump administration’s fight against migrants. The story about illegal migrants in the United States (who would have thought such a thing was even possible?) may end like this.

“For the first time in decades, the US President has called in the National Guard without the state’s consent,” the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty said. “The Governor of California has demanded that the US President withdraw the order to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, where protests have erupted, calling it illegal,” MSNBC reported. “We did not have a problem until Trump got involved,” Newsom himself wrote on X. “This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they are actually needed.” “The very incompetent ‘Governor’ Gavin Newscum and ‘Mayor’ Karen Bass should be saying, ‘Thank you, President Trump, you are so wonderful. We would be nothing without you, sir.’ Instead, they chose to lie to the People of California and America by saying that we weren’t needed and that these are ‘peaceful protests’,” Trump responded on his Truth Social network.

CNN is fuelling the fire, “The powerful algorithms that fuel social media platforms are feeding users days-old and sometimes completely fake content about the unrest, fires and clashes.” That is, the feeling of a large-scale crisis is artificial — it is being created. By whom? Nothing new — by Lukashenko and Putin. “Russian and Chinese state media are involved in this,” CNN reports.
The US President himself, speaking on June 10th at Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina, stated that the riots in the USA are being led and funded by someone. And the American government will find out who it is.
Almost all the best forces of the White House have been thrown into the fight against the ‘invasion and occupation of Los Angeles by illegal aliens and criminals’: these include US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Pam Bondi. All of them have authority and orders to end the civil war and are unwilling to be left holding the bag.
After all, more than 15 million Americans, as calculated on the internet, are children of illegal immigrants, given that anyone born on US soil automatically receives US citizenship. That is, these 15 million are full citizens, while their parents are not — and it is them, the social networks are screaming, that Trump wants to deport.
Well, what actions can be expected from millions of young people, already prone to selfishness, consumerism and violence?

However, at first, there was success. Initially, Trump demonstratively ‘bent’ Colombia and several other Latin American countries, and they began to take back their citizens illegally residing in the United States. Inspired by these achievements, the US President — for whom the fight against illegal immigration was one of the main points of his election programme — gave the order to round up illegal immigrants in all states. And then it turned out that the ‘democratic states’ with their leadership, who strongly dislike Trump, were simply sabotaging all White House orders. Moreover, there is the impression that in the state of California, the problem was created as if specifically for Donald.
So far, this is his first serious domestic political challenge. California is located on the border with Mexico, from where the main flow of illegal immigrants enters the United States. In Los Angeles, there is an exorbitant number of migrants, including illegal ones. Both the city and the state are governed by Democrats, and Governor Gavin Newsom has a personal score to settle with Donald Trump. Back at the very beginning of 2025, the newly elected president thoroughly criticised the Governor of California, his team, his policies and his competence, using the large-scale fires in the state as a pretext. Now, there are mass riots in Los Angeles. And who will spank whom, and whose plans will go up in smoke, is not yet clear.
As a Democratic presidential hopeful, Newsom could become a rival to the incumbent president (or their replacement), and is currently doing everything to put Trump in Los Angeles (and more broadly, in California, and ideally, throughout the entire US) in a zugzwang position — where no move improves the situation.
Indeed, if it comes to bloodshed in Los Angeles (in Hollywood, can you imagine?), the Democrats will unleash all hell on the Republicans, accusing them of human rights violations, suppressing American freedoms, and ‘eating babies alive’.
To date, the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party — the CNN television channel — continues to insist on ‘peaceful protests’ — doing so without batting an eyelid, against a backdrop of burning police cars. The protesting migrants themselves are ‘beating the police, smashing shops, and waving Mexican flags’.
Rubber bullets are flying everywhere and indiscriminately wounding reporters in live broadcasts, but the democratic media still habitually refer to robbery and plunder as ‘looting’: politically correct, almost legal, and now morally acceptable.
In addition to the police and National Guard, the US Marine Corps battalion has also been deployed to the city’s districts. An official curfew has been imposed, and it is forbidden to go out onto the streets in the ‘city of freedom’ from 8pm to 6am.

The Euro-enthusiasts are frankly disappointing. They do not condemn the violence, do not demand a national round table, and no one is going to California with dialogue and biscuits. The European Union is not even threatening economic sanctions, which have become commonplace. Nor does it promise to support democracy for as long as it takes. What a pity. Strong condemnation of Georgia, concern about the protests in Istanbul, the umpteenth package of sanctions against Russia, demands for reforms in Belarus — and such shyness, such delicacy towards the real masters… — the masters of the world and, obviously, of Europe as well.
We await developments, in full confidence that no one in the American (Anglo-Saxon) establishment cares at all about real people. The situation is being used by all sides to inflict as much damage as possible on political opponents, and living people and their fates are simply expendables. No crisis and — more broadly — no significant problems of migrants and the local population will be solved by any actions of the Anglo-Saxon authorities.
Only illegal migrants (wounded, beaten, injured) will somehow rebuild their lives — in that western paradise, which absolutely all western media have been promising them their whole lives. Them. And their parents. As well as their children and grandchildren.

SEARCHING FOR AN EXIT?

California Governor Gavin Newsom has stated that, according to the IMF for 2024, California’s nominal GDP was $4.1 trillion. This allowed the state to overtake Japan ($4.02 trillion) in terms of economy size and come in fourth place in the world after the USA, China and Germany.
The population of California is currently around 40 million people. It is the most populous state in the country, 12 percent of the total US population, and its GDP accounts for 14 percent of the entire US economy. If California were to secede from the USA, it would be quite a wealthy country. Isn’t this the real reason for the current unrest and conflict between the state authorities and the White House?
Notably, a petition has been registered in California and signatures are being collected for the state to leave the USA. It is called Calexit, by analogy with Brexit in the United Kingdom. If this initiative is supported, it will appear on the 2028 ballot. At that time, voters will face the main question: should California secede from the United States and become a free and independent country?
