Traditional Chinese medicines to be produced in Belarus
Production of Chinese traditional medicines, including anti-COVID drugs, to be launched at Great Stone Industrial Park – as informed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus, Xie Xiaoyong
A plane from Beijing has arrived in Belarus, with 1.5m doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on board. During an official ceremony of the acceptance act signing at the Healthcare Ministry, the Ambassador of China stressed, “I’m happy to hand over a new batch of the Chinese inactivated vaccine to you. It’s been provided by the Chinese Government as a gift to Belarus – becoming the third batch of 500,000 doses. Being a new concrete step towards the implementation of the agreements between the heads of our two countries, it demonstrates a high level of relations between our states and strong friendship between our peoples. I’d like to note that, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our co-operation has been meaningful, fruitful and close.”
Xie Xiaoyong noted that the Chinese vaccine enjoys a great demand in China and abroad, adding, “Despite the lack of vaccines, we have previously sent 400,000 doses to our Belarusian friends as a gift. China will continue to develop fruitful co-operation with Belarus in the fight against coronavirus in the future.”
According to the Ambassador, an enterprise currently operates at the Great Stone China-Belarus Industrial Park – producing Chinese traditional medicines. “We’ll jointly develop effective anti-coronavirus treatment there and clinical trials will soon be launched. After all the necessary procedures are complete, medicines will definitely help our friends overcome the COVID pandemic. We are ready to continue our co-operation along this avenue together with the Government,” he said.
