Tokayev: Belarus-Kazakhstan trade developing successfully, countries committed to further results

Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin has met with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his official visit to Astana, BelTA reports

The prospects of trade and economic co-operation, as well as industrial liaisons, were discussed at the meeting.

"Aleksandr Genrikhovich, I am glad to welcome you in Astana. This is your first official visit to our country as Head of Government, and we consider it to be very important – given the level of development of co-operation between our states,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed Aleksandr Turchin. “Trade between our countries is developing successfully. Kazakhstan is the second trading partner of Belarus [in the CIS]. We have great sympathy and respect for your country, your people, and your distinctive culture. Of course, Belarusian leader Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko has greatly contributed to the development of our relations. Taking this opportunity, I would like to convey greetings and best wishes to the President of Belarus. We are committed to the most positive work with the appropriate result. We are interested in continuing the successful development of co-operation.”

The Prime Minister, in turn, conveyed Aleksandr Lukashenko's warmest wishes to the President of Kazakhstan. "As your friends in Belarus, we are closely watching the development of Kazakhstan and rejoice at your successes. Your country has been demonstrating steady economic growth for a long time, and we cannot but feel happy with your achievements," he stressed.
