GMB trade union representative Nigel Beasley called on the country’s authorities to sit down at the negotiating table and discuss the current situation.

“Our union members are determined, but they are frustrated that no one talks to us,” he pointed out.

According to Sky News, approximately 11,000 GMB members will take part in the strike. They are pushing for wage increases in line with inflation, which has hit 10.1 percent year-on-year.

The agency recalled that a large-scale wave of strikes, caused by a sharp rise in inflation, falling real incomes and living standards of the population, swept Britain at the end of last year. Medical workers, railway workers, postmen, school and university teachers, customs officers and representatives of some other professions take part in the strikes.
