Opinion: US aims to keep Europe on its gas needle

The United States earns a lot of money on gas supplies to Europe, and the country will strive to ensure that this trend continues – as noted by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Sergei Klishevich, in his talk with Alfa Radio

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that European countries are importing record volumes of LNG from Russia, despite calls to ban the supply of Russian fuel.

“Russia ranks second in terms of gas supplies to Europe, with a share of 21 percent. The United States tops this list (46 percent), and Qatar is third (about 11 percent). The task of the United States is to keep Europe on its gas needle – not in order to solve its own geopolitical interests in Europe, but primarily to earn money. The war in Ukraine, a conflict that has been going on for a long time, allows Americans to generate huge profits on gas supplies to Europe. Russia’s 21 percent are also a serious figure, so the US will try to hamper this policy. The Trump team is focused on making money. As soon as it takes up its duties, we will see how the situation can change dramatically," Mr. Klishevich said.

According to the MP, the policy of the Trump team will primarily be aimed at the economic strangulation of rivals.
