The authorities of some European countries are beginning to refuse assistance to refugees from Ukraine because of rising gas prices and the energy crisis in the EU, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the British Guardian

Newspaper columnist Shaun Walker recalled that the EU countries are expecting an extremely difficult winter.

“As an uncertain and potentially costly winter approaches, governments are rolling back support programmes for Ukrainians,” he wrote.

Walker added that more and more Ukrainian refugees are finding themselves struggling to ‘make ends meet’. According to the author of the publication, the situation varies from country to country, but across Europe many Ukrainian refugees have struggled with access to healthcare education and housing. Thus, in many EU states, refugees are denied the latter because of a jump in energy prices.
