Technology and Innovation Support Centre for BSTU

A decision to establish Technology and Innovation Support Centre at the Belarusian State Technological University was made at a scientific seminar: Organisation of Activities of Technology and Innovation Support Centres and Topical Issues of Protection and Management of Intellectual Property Rights

The event – organised by the National Intellectual Property Centre jointly with BSTU – was attended by students, undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers.

As informed by the University press service, the BSTU Rector – Igor Voitov – and the Director General of the National Intellectual Property Centre – Vladimir Ryabovolov – signed an agreement on the Centre’s establishment.

In his address to the participants, Mr. Voitov noted that the Technology and Innovation Support Centre will make it possible to intensify activities and improve the quality of work in the field of legal protection, information support and use of intellectual property, as well as provision of services in scientific, sci-tech and innovative fields, while expanding international co-operation within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organisation.

From 2016 to 2020, the University received 227 patents, 30 of them for a utility model (6 patents of the Russian Federation, 4 patents of the Eurasian Patent Office). In addition, 183 positive decisions were received for the grant of a patent, including 24 utility model patents (4 patents of the Russian Federation). 160 patent applications have been filed, 26 of them for a utility model (3 patents of the Russian Federation, 2 of the Eurasian Patent Office).

The Belarusian State Technological University is a leading university in the country and the CIS in the forestry, chemical and printing industries. It is the basic organisation of the CIS member states for education in the field of forestry, and also a full member of the International Centre for Forestry and Forest Industry.
