From the report of the Swiss Foreign Ministry on foreign policy for 2022 follows, “The Federal Council intends to expand its co-operation with the EU and NATO in the field of security policy.”

The document also notes that due to their geographical and cultural position, as well as their political and economic weight, the EU and its member states are the main partners of Switzerland.

“With regard to foreign policy, the State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) have agreed to hold a dialogue twice a year in the future,” the report reads.

Switzerland has joined almost all anti-Russian sanctions because of the conflict in Ukraine.
