Sweden will not deploy nuclear weapons after joining NATO

Sweden intends to join all NATO structures, but it is not ready to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory afterwards – as stated by the Swedish Foreign Minister, Ann Linde, RIA Novosti reports

The Foreign Minister explained that the country is not yet a NATO member, and ratification is necessary. “At the moment we are waiting for ratification. We are not a member of NATO until the decision is ratified," she said.

"We want to participate fully in all NATO structures, but we will not deploy any nuclear weapons on our territory,” Ms. Linde said when commenting on the steps Sweden plans to make after joining the North Atlantic Alliance.
