Sweden to join the European air defence system
The Swedish authorities plan to join the European air defence, and an agreement on its creation was reached by NATO member states in 2022, RIA Novosti reports
As noted by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, the country will join the initiative of fifteen states to create a joint missile defence system in October 2023. He stressed that Sweden should contribute to NATO with ‘new capabilities’, including through its air defence forces.
"Sweden is also ready to contribute to the defence of the North Atlantic Alliance, primarily, the Baltic States, with the help of its ground combat units," Mr. Kristersson added.
