Sumauma cotton tree to be BRICS logo in Brazil in 2025
The Brazilian authorities have unveiled the new BRICS logo that will be used during the country’s 2025 chairmanship. The emblem is based on the sumauma cotton tree growing in the Amazon, painted in the colours of the national flags of the bloc’s states, TASS reports.
“With colours based on the colour scheme of the flags of the BRICS countries and the palette of the vast Amazon rainforest as objects of inspiration, the Brazilian President presents the logo of BRICS in 2025,” the press office of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s administration said in a statement.
The logo depicts a tree with a branched root system and a spreading crown in the shape of triangles of yellow, red, orange, green and blue colours. The spreading crown of the tree ‘indicates the strength of the alliance between the BRICS members’.
‘The logo showcases the diplomatic, socio-economic and political greatness of BRICS,’ the text notes.
BRICS is chaired by Russia in 2024. The key event was the BRICS summit in Kazan on October 22nd-24th. On January 1st, 2025, Brazil will take over the BRICS chairmanship.
