"The military-political situation that is developing around our country, primarily against the background of the special military operation in Ukraine, shows that the means of armed struggle have changed somewhat and the use of drones has come to the fore," Mr. Volfovich said. "We record that Russia and Ukraine use a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles on their territories every day."

"The grouping of electronic warfare (EW) systems created in Russia to counter unmanned aerial vehicles affects the flight path of these drones. Therefore, I would say, for objective reasons, some of these drones fly into the eastern borders of our state. This does not mean we do not see it. Our electronic control systems, radio intelligence equipment see and record everything that flies in and is in our airspace,” the State Secretary stressed.

Mr. Volfovich drew attention to the fact that Belarus had also created its grouping of EW systems, and it affects drones and prevents them from flying arbitrarily across the country. "We see all this, we take adequate measures, we use electronic jamming to prevent the flight of drones. If we see that they threaten some critically important facilities, cities, or populations, then combat aircraft are scrambled, and military weapons are used to destroy and suppress drones," he said.

At the same time, he noted that unmanned aircraft is racing with electronic warfare equipment: as soon as the latter find a way to suppress and control, the former change frequencies and apply new technologies. It happens everywhere in the world. "The most important task today is to counteract and ensure the safety of our citizens and territories, for which all possible measures are being taken. Our Head of State keeps this under the strictest control," the State Secretary stressed.

As earlier reported, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported on a range of issues today, including by State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich who informed on the results of the joint Zapad-2025 Belarusian-Russian exercise, the lessons learnt and the experience gained. He also reported on the reaction of Belarus’ western neighbours, taking into account their extreme concern on the eve of the exercise.

Another topic of the report tackled the incidents of unmanned aerial vehicles flying into the territory of Belarus, which periodically occur. According to the State Secretary, this situation is being monitored on an ongoing basis.
