“The customs authorities are completely ready to resume the traffic flow at the Belarusian crossings of Bruzgi and Berestovitsa, which border Poland. The customs shifts are staffed by employees from closed crossings. The customs infrastructure has been improved and expanded, with technical equipment operating as usual,” Viktor Zubik noted.

According to him, the Belarusian side reconstructed the Berestovitsa checkpoint, while the Bobrowniki checkpoint was closed, “We’ve built a channel system for trucks heading for the exit and a separate channel for buses. The modules housing customs officers and border guards have been modernised. In addition, we’ve built a hall for processing bus passengers and weight-in-motion system,” Viktor Zubik stated.

“As for the Bruzgi checkpoint, it has also been upgraded. Ultimately, the number of lanes for vehicles has been increased,” he said.

According to Viktor Zubik, a new equipment for the electronic monitoring of truck queue registration had been installed at both checkpoints even before they were closed, “These are serious upgrades — the conditions for individuals crossing the border will improve.”
