State Border Committee: Poland did not resume railway communication with Belarus for political reasons

As informed by the Polish media, the country’s Infrastructure Ministry has lifted the ban on passenger railway transportation with Belarus introduced in 2020 against the background of COVID-19. At the same time, despite the lifting of restrictions, the Polish authorities refuse to resume transportation ‘due to strained diplomatic relations between the two countries’, Belarus’ State Border Committee noted.

It is reported that the State Border Committee has received no official notification from the Polish side on this issue.

"Such actions of the neighbouring country prove the politicisation of decisions taken at the level of the Polish leadership, and the disregard for interests of their own citizens who are forced to stand in multi-kilometre queues at the Polish-Belarusian border," the State Border Committee noted.
