State Border Committee: Lithuanian security forces threatened to throw refugees into cold river and used stun guns

A new case of cynicism of Lithuanian border guards was registered on December 12th: Belarusian border guards came across a group of refugees on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. As reported by the Belarusian State Border Committee in its Telegram channel, the foreigners said that Lithuanian security forces had brought them to the border area and forced them to the border with Belarus.

The refugees noted that they had bene physically abused on the territory of Lithuania, and stun guns had been used in relation to them. Moreover, Lithuanian security forces forced refugees to tell on camera that they had been beaten by Belarusian border guards. In case of refusal, the foreigners were threatened with being driven into a cold river.

“Like their Polish colleagues, Lithuanian security forces continue to cynically throw people – who are in a vulnerable position – to the border. In order to conceal its illegal actions from the public, Lithuania constantly extends the ban on the stay of volunteers, doctors and media representatives in the border area," the State Border Committee reported.
