Belarus’ State Border Committee: dead refugee found on border with Latvia
In the afternoon of February 6th, the Polotsk border guards found the body of an undocumented refugee 15 metres from the Latvian border fence. The man of Arab appearance was lying on the ground between trees with no sign of life, sb.by reports with reference to the State Border Committee of Belarus.
The border guards called the crime scene investigation team of the Braslav District Department of Internal Affairs.
The State Border Committee drew attention to the fact that the Latvian military were near the border fence even before the arrival of the Belarusian border guards and recorded everything that was happening on the phone.
“Since 2021, 26 bodies of refugees have been found in the Belarusian-Latvian section as a result of the EU migration policy,” the Belarusian border agency said.
