Stamp cancellation to mark Memory Train project on IPA CIS sidelines

The ceremony — held for the postage stamp block cancellation of joint issue to mark cultural and educational project Memory Train — was visited by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, and Valentina Matvienko, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, during the spring session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS) in St. Petersburg

During the ceremony, it was noted that special postmarks had been created for the stamp cancellation, bearing today's date and location — April 18th, 2025, St. Petersburg. The jointly issued stamps will enter postal circulation simultaneously in both countries on the same day.

Each country sets the nominal value of its postage stamp according to its current domestic postal rates. The Russian stamp carries a value of 85 Russian Roubles, matching the standard tariff for domestic letter post within the Russian Federation. The Belarusian stamp features the letter ‘N’, representing a value of Br 2.40 - equivalent to the rate for sending an international postcard from Belarus. The stamps share a common design based on the original Russia’s artwork, depicting both the Memory Train locomotive and the project's official emblem.
