Sports Ministry named priority sports in Belarus for 2025

The Ministry of Sports and Tourism held a board meeting dedicated to the results of the performance at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, and Belarus’ priority sports for 2025 were named, sb.by reports with reference to the sports department

The meeting participants recognised the satisfactory performances of Belarusian athletes at the Paris Olympics and approved priority sports for the next year.

Belarusians won four medals at the 33rd Summer Olympics. Ivan Litvinovich became the Olympic champion for the second time in his career, Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya (trampoline jumping) and Yauheni Zalaty (rowing academic) won silver, while Yauheni Tsikhantsou (weightlifting) became the bronze medal winner. 

In addition, the list of priority sports in Belarus for 2025 was approved: basketball, biathlon, boxing, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, cycling, volleyball, handball, gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, academic rowing, kayaking and canoeing, judo, speed skating, athletics, swimming, trampolining, modern pentathlon, sports among the disabled, bullet shooting, taekwondo, tennis, weightlifting, freestyle, field hockey, ice hockey, and synchronised swimming.
