Snopkov about joint Belarus-China project

During their telephone conversation the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, discussed a joint project to build a multimodal logistics complex in the Great Stone Park

Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov spoke about the details of the talks, “This is the most important project being built by the joint efforts of four countries: Switzerland, Germany, China and Belarus. In a conversation with the President of Belarus, Xi Jinping called this project as one of the most promising. Despite the difficulties in the transit of goods through the land route, I think that our position as the dominant hub on the shortest route between the West and the East will remain.”

Nikolai Snopkov also noted that the leaders of the two countries discussed issues of increasing interaction of the Belarusian industrial complex with Chinese corporations.

“For example, the WEICHAI Corporation is now actively working in joint projects with MAZ JSC, manufacturing import-substitution goods, which successfully compensates for the problems with the supply of components. Moreover, our Chinese colleagues also highly assessed the Geely project for the joint production of passenger cars. I’m sure that other Chinese corporations will come to work with us in a similar way.”

In addition, Mr. Snopkov noted that the heads of state agreed on the active development of traditional Chinese medicine in the Great Stone Industrial Park, as well as on the production of a vaccine against COVID-19.
