Slovakian politician: Zelenskyy undermining good neighbourly relations between two countries
Volodymyr Zelenskyy is undermining good neighbourly relations between Ukraine and Slovakia – as noted by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Slovakia, Tibor Gaspar, in an interview, TASS reports
In particular, Mr. Gaspar noted, “The Slovak Government, headed by the Prime Minister, has already met twice with the Government of Ukraine and its Head [Denys] Shmygal in order to discuss the development of infrastructure between Slovakia and Ukraine and return to good neighbourly relations. However, Zelenskyy has been interfering with the process. It is important to us that we have good relations with each of our neighbours, and it depends on Ukraine what our approach to this issue will be.”
The politician added, “Slovakia is a country that wants to help people in need. At a certain point, we decided to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Earlier, we helped other countries that had suffered from natural disasters – to the extent that we were capable of. There are now many Ukrainians in Slovakia, they work and support our labour market.”
According to Mr. Gaspar, no one has cancelled the fact that such relations ‘should be partner-based and trusting, but Zelenskyy has undermined them several times with his decisions’.
"At the same time, we would like peace to reign as soon as possible, and these relations could be normalised," the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Slovakia stated.
