Shymanovich, Kozyreva won doubles tennis tournament in Valencia
Iryna Shymanovich and Maria Kozyreva won the WTA 125 doubles tennis tournament in Valencia. In the finals on June 15th, the Belarusian-Russian pair overcame Spain’s Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers and Angela Fita Boluda with a score of 6:3, 6:4.
The week before last, Shymanovich and Kozyreva won the main prize at a similar tournament in Bari, Italy. They have now delighted their fans by winning another title in Valencia. Earlier, they defeated the Spanish-Argentinian pair Leyre Romero Gormaz / Maria Lourdes Carle (6:2, 6:4) and the Russian-Argentinian tandem Alina Korneeva / Solana Sierra (6:3, 6:3). The two tennis players concluded the decisive match on a high note.
In each set, both the Belarusian and the Russian player only made one break. However, coupled with their perfect gameplay on their serve, this brought success in two games.
Iryna Shymanovich (WTA: 160) reached the singles quarterfinals at the BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia after beating Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja (WTA: 125) (6:3, 6:3) and Russia’s Alina Charaeva (WTA: 188) (6:4, 7:6). Meanwhile, she lost to Chinese Xinyu Gao (WTA: 161) (6:3, 4:6, 4:6).
A year ago, American player Ann Li won the singles tournament in Valencia, while Katarzyna Piter of Poland and Fanny Stollar of Hungary took first place in the doubles tournament.
