Shpakovsky: Zapad-2025 exercise proved Belarus to be right and refuted slander from unfriendly countries
On October 8th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko received a number of reports at the Palace of Independence, including the one from Aleksandr Volfovich, State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, which focused on the results of the Belarusian-Russian Zapad-2025 joint exercise. The State Secretary reported in detail on the outcomes and experience gained from the exercises. In his talk with Alfa Radio, Aleksandr Shpakovsky, a member of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, spoke about the goals achieved during the Zapad-2025 exercise.

Aleksandr Shpakovsky noted that the Zapad-2025 exercise completed successfully, “Measures were taken to improve the combat co-ordination of Belarusian and Russian army units, and the tasks set were successfully accomplished.”
According to the MP, what is especially important is that statements from alarmists and slanders from the Baltic States and Poland were once again proved to be a complete charade, “‘In other words, the events themselves confirmed that Belarus was right and refuted the slander from unscrupulous politicians in the West,” Aleksandr Shpakovsky explained. “All these statements that Zapad-2025 allegedly poses a threat to the security of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland turned out to be a bluff.”
The speaker also added that the political establishment, especially the Polish one, pursued very specific militaristic goals, “Under these hysterical statements, Poland was building up its military presence near the Belarusian border. The Zapad-2025 exercises and the UAV incident on their territory allowed Poland to seek a substantial share of the European Union's common military initiative. If I am not mistaken, Poland expected to raise over 40bn Euros to its military initiative,” Aleksandr Shpakovsky noted.
The MP also stated that Poland ranks first in NATO in militarisation pace, “But statements coming from there are very aggressive. In this regard, I would like to say that any measures we take to strengthen Belarus's defence capabilities will be absolutely justified.”
