Shpakovsky: Canadian truckers oppose segregation of people

Truck drivers who came out to protest in Canada are not against vaccines but against segregation – as noted by political scientist Aleksandr Shpakovsky in his talk with Alfa Radio

“A convoy of truckers is actually opposing not vaccines but segregation. There are many vaccinated drivers who express solidarity with their colleagues in this way. Their second demand then followed: the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Meanwhile, we fail to see that he or the country’s Foreign Minister enter into negotiations with the protesters, organise a joint round table discussion to resolve the situation in Canada, or – oven more so – renounce power. For some reason, we do not observe all these actions which they constantly call for if protests emerge somewhere in our region," the political scientist noted.

Mr. Shpakovsky recalled how the West reacted to the riots in Kazakhstan, “Bandits there destroyed the second largest city in the country: Almaty. Josep Borrell [the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy] was concerned about the use of force by Kazakh law enforcement agencies. However, when the European External Action Service was attacked by stones, he condemned the rioters’ actions – saying that all of them should be found and imprisoned.”

As regards the topic of coronavirus restrictions, the expert stressed, “COVID restrictions – which the President of Belarus also mentioned in his Address – are a policy aimed at destroying the middle class and segregating people under the guise of some medical grounds. There is very little common sense [in coronavirus restrictions]. Any idea can be brought to the point of absurdity, including the COVID denial. This disease exists from the medical point of view but patients need to be treated, and they [the Canadian authorities] are mocking the healthy. The segregation of society, tracking programmes, an attempt to put citizens under digital control, the deprivation of work of persons of certain professions will produce a greater movement for individual rights and freedoms since the basic principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are violated. It is necessary either to revise these treaties or to admit that they fail to work. They [the Canadian authorities] prohibit people’s movement, leisure and recreation, introduce incomprehensible additional documents, and citizens cannot manage their own health there. Naturally, this cannot but cause a protest in society. No matter for how many years citizens have been brought up, many people are still guided by common sense. Perhaps, the current situation in Canada is by far the largest anti-COVID protest that has ended with the placement of political demands to the government. We actually know that the European Union citizens are being beaten every week. This is observed in Vienna, Madrid, Brussels, Prague and Amsterdam. People are beaten with rubber batons, poisoned with tear gas, attacked with stun grenades. All these actions are accompanied by disingenuous statements of European politicians about human rights.”
