Shlychkov on trends in work of Belarus’ State Committee on Science and Technology for 2025

Summing up the work of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus (SCST), its Chairman Sergei Shlychkov noted that, in general, the trends are positive despite the situation around the country

“All indicators of innovative development and scientific and technological activity in Belarus are in a positive trend,” he emphasised.

Moreover, the SCST Chairman called 2023 and 2024 the years of records.

“In 2024, products worth Br5.6bn were sold under all our programme projects, and the forecasts for this year are optimistic,” the official added.

Nevertheless, according to Mr. Shlychkov, the main purpose of the department’s board is not to rejoice in successes, but to deal with the directions and tasks set before the SCST by the state and the government.

“There was a recent meeting on entrepreneurship in our country. Our committee is working on small business legislation within the framework of technoparks. We have over 270 residents in 16 technoparks. Each resident is an enterprise, a production facility. Accordingly, we will also deal with this direction,” the SCST Chairman noted. “And due to the fact that the Head of State has set the task to make the scientific sphere practice-oriented, in this part we have been and will continue to deal with the issues of increasing practice-orientation in 2023, 2024, and 2025.”
