Shanghai strives to create scientific and technological innovations
Shanghai is confidently developing through innovations, making every effort to create a scientific and technological innovation centre with global influence, Chinese People’s Daily reports
In 2023, Shanghai plans to increase the share of R&D spending to 4.3 percent of GRP, expand the area for basic research, and continue to form an infrastructure group in the fields of photonics, life sciences and oceanology.
It is reported that the Shanghai Science and Education Centre at the University of Science and Technology of China, located in Zhangjiang Science and Technology City in Pudong, will become an important platform for the development of quantum technologies.
Shanghai organises scientific and technological activities, financial support, professional training and open co-operation with domestic and foreign innovation teams to accelerate the development of key technologies. Today, there are 100 enterprises with sci-tech centres of the national level in Shanghai, more than 900 enterprises with scientific centres of the city level and over 2,000 enterprises with similar centres of the district level.
Recently, a number of promising and strategic key platforms have emerged in Pudong (a new district of Shanghai), whose activities are related to quantum technology, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence and other fields.
