Sergeyenko: Western countries preparing public opinion for new campaign to the East

Belarusian parliamentarians consider it timely to adopt the CSTO PA appeal to the peoples of the organisation's member states and parliamentarians of the countries of the world in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War – as stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko, at a joint meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation in Moscow

Igor Sergeyenko noted that Belarus recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of liberation from Nazi invaders. In turn, 2025 will be the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

“We have learned the main lesson from that war: Nazism is an absolute evil. There is no justification and no forgiveness for the crimes of fascists – not then, not now, not in the future. The current generation faces an equally serious task: to prevent the falsification of history, the revision of the war result and the belittling of the role of the Soviet people in the liberation of Europe from the ‘brown plague’. We see how monuments to Soviet soldiers are being destroyed in Western countries, memorials to the Nazis and their accomplices are being erected, and SS veterans are being honoured. An especially dangerous point is that they are preparing public opinion for a new campaign to the East,” the Chairman of the House of Representatives stated.
