Speaking of the current tasks, he noted, “An active phase of agitation and propaganda activity regarding the Constitution and amendments is in full swing. Deputies of all levels, heads of Republican public administration bodies, local authorities, political scientists and experts have actively joined this work. The heads of the Znanie (Knowledge) Belarusian Society work actively as well. The key goal is to communicate the main innovations envisaged by the Constitution – aimed at the future and formed taking into account people’s opinions – to our population, our citizens. This has been preceded by a serious work of dialogue platforms, discussions among labour teams, the activity of the Constitutional Commission and the working group. It was taking place in front of our citizens, and a referendum will crown this work. The main task now is to convince people to come to the referendum, to cast their vote in support of the Constitution with amendments and additions.”

Mr. Sergeyenko also talked of the situation in the country – describing it as calm and unswerving, “The information coming from localities (we are monitoring the situation) indicates that constructive work is underway. True, it is not without drawbacks – and this was also discussed at the meeting. It is necessary to move away from formalism in holding events, and to start a dialogue – also finding the forms that are interesting to different audiences.”

The Head of the President Administration also noted that considerable attention was paid to ensuring security at all stages of the preparation and holding of the referendum, including the security of precinct and territorial commission members.

Mr. Sergeyenko noted, “Commissions have already been formed and started their work in accordance with the Central Elections Commission calendar plan. Constructive and calm work is underway, and I am convinced that this stability – which we have in our country today – will be ensured. In the coming days and weeks, we will hold the referendum with the same normal working mood. At present, we feel feedback and the interest of the majority of our people – a significant, predominant part of the population – in the referendum, its results and their personal participation in voting. This is because to cast a vote is to vote for the future of our country, the future of children and all our compatriots, citizens of our country.”
