Sergeyenko: CSTO PA’s recommendations on electoral sovereignty included in Belarus’ National Security Concept

Recommendations offered by the Collective Security Treaty Organisation’s Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA) were included in the National Security Concept of the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives

Speaking of some notable results achieved by the Belarusian Parliament this month, Mr. Sergeyenko highlighted lively and intense international communications taking place in early December.

“A meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State where the heads of state signed a number of important documents in various areas took place in Minsk on December 6th. When it comes to national security, the documents mentioned include the Union State Security Concept and a bilateral treaty on security guarantees. The treaty on the unified Union State energy market was signed as well. Presidents also outlined a number of key vectors for future joint development of Belarus and Russia; those vectors will serve as targets for our parliamentary work,” said the speaker.

He went on to point out that on December 16th, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov took part in the conference called The Union State: Integration, Development, Trust that took place in Moscow. The conference was scheduled to celebrate 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty. Before that, on December 8th and 9th, a parliamentary mission from Minsk participated in the joint CSTO PA Council meeting and the 17th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly.

“We have adopted the Migration Security Concept and offered recommendations on improving legislation in the area of combating illegal migration and on developing joint national principles for regulating artificial intelligence and robotics. The artificial intelligence-related issues, along with deepening co-operation in information security were the problems President Lukashenko insisted we should focus on at the CSTO summit in Astana,” continued the House of Representatives Chairman.

Mr. Sergeyenko added that the meeting speakers of CSTO countries' parliaments had with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin was productive.

“We had an exchange of opinions that, without overstating it, emphasised the growing importance of inter-parliamentary interactions. The 67th session of the Union State’s Parliamentary Assembly that took place on December 12th was also fruitful. We adopted the Union State’s budget, reviewed our work in 2024 and approved our plans for 2025,” he said.

At the House of Representatives’ Council meeting, participants reviewed plans for 2025 and listened to the report detailing MPs’ involvement in events related to the Year of Quality initiative.
