Sergeyenko: Belarusians will not let anyone offend their history

Day of Fatherland Defenders and Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is a truly national holiday, since protection of the Fatherland is the duty of every citizen – as stated by the Head of the President Administration, Igor Sergeyenko, before today’s solemn assembly and festive concert dedicated to Day of Fatherland Defenders and the Armed Forces of Belarus

“Today, it is probably a holiday of people in uniform – those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, perfecting their combat skills, being ready to defend their country at any moment, at any hour, without sparing their health and their lives,” Mr. Sergeyenko said.

As noted by the Head of the President Administration, much is being done in the country regarding the patriotic education of young people, improving not only the combat training of the Armed Forces, but also territorial defence – so that, if necessary, everyone can defend their homeland.

“Today we need to look up to the generation of winners, to the Great Patriotic War veterans who are still in the ranks, who are alive and healthy, and who show an example by their faith in life, their attitude to life. The feats they performed during the terrible years of the Great Patriotic War deserve the deepest respect and, of course, imitation. There are also veterans of local wars. Historical memory is a comprehensive concept, and life is developing in such a way that this memory now needs not only to be cherished, but also to be actively protected – by daily work, by perpetuating the memory of those who are no longer with is, by good deeds. We will not let anyone offend our history,” Mr. Sergeyenko stated.
