Sergeyenko: Belarus learned to work in changing external conditions thanks to its strong power vertical

On meeting Mogilev’s labour teams, the Head of the Belarus President Administration, Igor Sergeyenko, outlined the main theses that now characterise the state of affairs in the country

“Belarus has never created problems either for its neighbours or for the world community. During the Great Patriotic War, we lost every third person, and we know the price of a peaceful and safe life. Almost 80 years have passed, and we have become accustomed to peace, prosperity and stability. Since its formation and gaining of independence, our country has been living and developing under the conditions of sanctions pressure and double standards imposed by the West. Thanks to the unity of society, a strong vertical of power, a political course and competent policy of the Head of State, we have learned to work in constantly changing internal and external conditions,” Mr. Sergeyenko noted.

The state is completely fulfilling its obligations to ensure the basic needs of the population in all areas. Over the years, the country’s authorities have prevented social stratification and ensured a stable operation of all enterprises and payment of wages. Labour teams have been preserved in organisations, and continuity has been ensured. As informed by Mr. Sergeyenko, in 2021-2022, construction of a dozen socially significant objects continues countrywide and, in November, more than 20 social facilities will be launched – including sports and medical complexes, roads and bridges.

“Sometimes we live and perceive it as a given, as an ordinary state, though this involves serious injections and people’s work. All life support systems of the country fully meet our needs, but this cannot be said about some states which are putting information pressure on us today. Most importantly, under the conditions of sanctions, Belarus is increasing its production volumes of goods and services. Exports are growing, and sales markets are being expanded. This is done at the cost of efforts, including yours,” the Head of the President Administration stated.

However, not everyone is happy about these successes. The West has made it clear that it does not need competitors in the world market. It so happened that geographically Belarus has always been at the junction of the geopolitical interests of the world's leading players. Mr. Sergeyenko added, “Our military have constantly been involved in various military-political disputes and conflicts. The strengthening of the positions of Russia and China, the unwillingness of the United States to put up with multipolarity, attempts to maintain world domination have led to redistribution of the existing system of world order and confrontation: on the one hand, of the collective West led by the United States, on the other – of Russia, China and allies. The West, by its actions, has created the prerequisites for perhaps the largest economic crisis in history since the end of WWII. We are probably facing the most unpredictable decade at present. In these conditions, the West is not only trying to subordinate us to its interests and impose chaos, but also to drag us into war – also ending with Russia and Belarus.”

Intensive militarisation of the NATO states is now in full swing. There is an increasing presence of this military-political bloc’s groups near the borders of Belarus at present. Military budgets and the US arms market are growing. Moreover, an agent operational activity of foreign states on the territory of Belarus has noticeably intensified.

Mr. Sergeyenko noted that there are forces that seek to organise a scenario of a colour revolution and armed provocation in Belarus. “It failed in 2020, and only a military solution has remained – through sabotage, terrorist attacks and destabilisation of the situation. The West relies on fugitives. A real hybrid war has been launched against Belarus and Russia, and it is openly conducted in the economic and information spheres. Outright streams of lies are pouring over our heads through the Internet, and sometimes it is difficult to understand, especially for young people, the intricacies of this information. One of the goals of our meeting is to provide objective information about what is happening both along the external boundary and domestically,” he addressed those present.
