Sergeyenko: Belarus entered new stage of its development after President’s inauguration
On March 25th, an event of truly historic significance took place, crowning the process of large-scale socio-political transformations: the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Belarus. As stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko, at today’s session of the House of Representatives, the republic has entered a new stage of its development.
According to Mr. Sergeyenko, the image of modern Belarus perfectly demonstrates the effectiveness of the course that has enabled the state to maintain the socially-oriented model of the market economy. “As Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko noted, our victory is a new historical chance, an opportunity to do even more for the benefit of our native Belarus. The key points of the strategy to be implemented in the near future have been outlined. The fundamental requirement that sets the tone for the work of all government and management bodies for the coming five years is to generate the strength that would be sufficient for the long-term development,” he said.
Another important thesis is the goal of equalising the quality of life of citizens, wherever they live – in villages, agro-towns or regional centres. Mr. Sergeyenko stressed that conditions everywhere should be the same as in the capital, “Strong regions are actually the source of the country's prosperity, security, and national unity. Of course, much has been done and is being done in this direction, since the principle of social justice is at the heart of the Belarusian model of statehood. At the same time, the needs of citizens are growing as well, and this requires all of us to be proactive, constantly analyse the dynamics of the situation and make prompt, well-thought-of decisions.”
The Chairman of the House of Representatives stressed that the deputies, together with the Government, local authorities, civil society and the business community, should make every effort to achieve these goals.
