Serbian politician on geopolitical situation: lack of moral law

Not the economy but the absence or lack of moral law is the biggest problem of the modern world – as stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, at the 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which is taking place on December 5th-6th in the Emirati city of Ras Al Khaimah

Serbs want to be a part of the free world, and they – as noted by the Serbian politician at a session of the Verona forum – are already such. “The biggest problem of the modern world is not the economy (we have enough goods), but the absence or lack of moral law. In the modern world, the great powers do not think about the economy, they think about how to maintain dominance. However, if you want to be a leader, then you should primarily dominate not economically or militarily, but morally. No one in the world asked questions when NATO unleashed a bloodbath in the centre of Europe in the 20th century, and this indicates unipolarity. No one was punished for the aggression in the centre of Europe. Will Serbia in this case consider Ukraine's borders sacred?… Were not Serbia's borders sacred? I am ready to repeat: the great powers that believe they can be leaders should be strong in the economy and in the military affairs, but they must first of all be morally strong. Unfortunately, these countries have lost it [moral strength],” the politician said.

Aleksandar Vulin added that WWIII is already underway, and the question is whether it will be escalated to the use of nuclear weapons, “The great powers must go back to the beginning, and moral rules must apply there.”

The Verona Eurasian Economic Forum is a platform that traditionally brings together politicians, experts, diplomats, heads of major companies and journalists from the West and the East. It was hosted by Italian Verona for fourteen years – even at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, geopolitical realities forced the organisers to change the traditional venue. In 2022, the forum was for the first time held outside Italy: in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. Later, it was hosted by Uzbek Samarkand. This year, the organisers — the Italian non-profit Conoscere Eurasia Association, the Roscongress Foundation and the UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry – have chosen the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah as the venue.
