The meeting was led by the Deputy State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, Aleksandr Neverovsky, and the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Rashid Nurgaliyev.

In addition, the State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council, Aleksandr Volfovich, has met today with the Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, in Moscow.

"Such events are held annually, covering the widest possible security agenda. They are aimed at comprehensive strengthening of the Belarus-Russia strategic partnership,” the Security Council of Belarus noted.

The event participants discussed the key issues of the Union State’s security in the context of a hybrid influence of the West against Belarus and Russia. “The parties expressed concern about the current situation in the Eastern European region in the field of ensuring international and regional security, also exchanging views on the development of the situation in Ukraine. The importance of maintaining high dynamics of interaction in the conditions of the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and the search for ways to resolve the conflict were acknowledged,” the source added.

As noted by the Security Council, special attention was paid to co-operation in the field of biological safety – both through the offices of the security councils and in an interdepartmental format. It was emphasised that, in 2020-2022, a high level of practical multifaceted and multi-level military and military-technical partnership has been achieved, as well as close co-operation between law enforcement and security agencies of the two countries in the field of countering modern challenges and threats.

"The parties confirmed their commitment to the course of further deepening interaction in various areas of security and common approaches to solving problematic issues on the international and regional agenda," the office informed.
