The paper said that temporary work stoppages at all German VW factories, except the one in Osnabrück, should happen in parallel with the current rounds of collective bargaining. In Wolfsburg, for instance, the protest action is planned right before the fourth round of negotiations.

IG Metall spokesman for Lower Saxony, Thorsten Gröger, said the protests are supposed to ‘up the pressure we put on the company at the negotiating table’.

Aside from Wolfsburg, strikes also took place at factories located in Zwickau, Hannover, Emden, Baunatal, Brunswick, Salzgitter, Chemnitz, and Dresden.
