“The research group of scientists from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Russian Health Ministry, Imperial College London, King’s College London and University of Liverpool (UK), as well as Johns Hopkins University (USA) identified aspects of measurements of post-COVID syndrome in studies,” explained the press service.

To assess the post-COVID syndrome, it is recommended to take into account eleven outcomes: survival; fatigue; pain; symptoms after physical exercise; cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, cognitive, psychological functions and symptoms; general physical condition and changes in work or studies. An additional parameter is also named: recovery.

The WHO previously urged the international medical community to focus on research into the long-term effects of COVID-19, including the collection of standardised data, proposing the term ‘post-COVID syndrome’ for people living with chronic symptoms.

“We hope that the results of our work will improve the quality of data collected around the world and help understand the post-COVID state. This is how we can help people,” emphasised Daniel Munblit, Professor of the Department of Paediatrics and Paediatric Infectious Diseases at Sechenov University and co-head of the project.
