SB TV guests explain why organising military exercises is important

From August 31st to September 6th, the exercise combining the training of various components of the CSTO Collective Forces (troops) takes place at Belarus’ Losvido and Lepelsky training grounds. In addition, the Zapad-2025 joint Belarusian-Russian military exercise will soon follow. In their talk with SB TV on the YouTube channel, experts explained why such activities are important.

A STV political observer Grigory Azarenok noted, “President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly stated that we [post-Soviet countries] cannot go our separate ways, because, by and large, no one is waiting for us anywhere, especially when it comes to military security. Therefore, the exercises can only be welcomed. And our opponents, well, of course, they will whine, scream and go crazy.”

A specific aspect of the forthcoming exercises is the fact that their intentions are closely linked to the intentions of the Zapad-2025 joint strategic exercise of the Belarusian and Russian Armed Forces. The main task of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces is to ensure the deployment of regional troop formations.

When commenting on this fact, a political commentator of The First News TV channel, Yevgeny Gorin noted, “It seems to me that such exercises always make a major war redundant. Because who does an aggressor attack? The weak, the divided. And what do Westerners see here? They see the brotherhood, discipline and modern technologies — many examples of which are superior to their Western opponents.”

Grigory Azarenok added, “As for weakness, there is a military term for it: ‘provocative weakness’. That is, when you are weak, sooner or later you will be attacked.”
