According to the Saudi press agency, at the Awtad unconventional natural gas field, 142km from Al-Hofuf, the flow rate of the first well – Awtad-108001 – makes 10m standard cubic feet daily (11.8 thousand cubic metres per hour), plus 740 barrels of condensate. The flow rate of the second well – Awtad-100921 – is estimated at 16.9m cubic feet daily (19.9 thousand cubic metres per hour), plus 165 barrels of condensate.

Two wells were also discovered on the site of the second unconventional gas field, AlDahna, 230km southwest of Dhahran. The flow rate of the first well – AlDahna-4 – reaches 8.1m standard cubic feet daily (9.5 thousand cubic metres per hour). The flow rate of the second well – AlDahna-370100 – is 17.5m cubic feet daily (20.6 thousand cubic metres per hour), plus 362 barrels of condensate.

Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud noted that the discovery of these deposits is of great importance for the kingdom, as it will help Saudi Arabia gradually abandon the use of liquid fuel.
