Sasnovich advanced to Melbourne tennis tournament main draw

Aliaksandra Sasnovich (WTA: 107) will play in the main draw of the Melbourne Summer Set 2 tournament. The day before, at the start of the qualification, the third racket of Belarus in just over an hour defeated Australian Olivia Tjandramulia (WTA: 521) – 6:2, 6:3. Tonight, according to our time, she celebrated victory over Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (WTA: 118) – 7:5, 6:1 – in the decisive match that lasted 1 hour and 36 minutes.

In the first set, the Belarusian athlete had certain problems with her serve, which she could not hold back twice. Meanwhile, Sasnovich compensated for this by playing at the return. She made three breaks, enabling her to close the game in her favour.

Inspired by such development of events, the Belarusian was even more convincing in the second game. She again made three breaks, but at the same time she did not give up a single game on her own serve and, as a result, put a convincing victorious point.

However, another Belarusian Olga Govortsova (WTA: 139) failed to reach the main draw of another tournament in Melbourne. After yesterday’s victory over the representative of the Chinese Taipei En-Shuo Liang (WTA: 200) – 6:4, 7:6 – the fourth racket of Belarus could not complete today’s match of the second qualifying round against Slovakian Viktoria Kuzmova (WTA: 162). Govortsova refused to continue the fight after she lost the first set with no options – 1:6.

Competitions in Melbourne are the stages of preparation for the season’s first Grand Slam tournament: the Australian Open.
