Sales of new passenger cars more than doubled in Belarus in January
In Belarus, sales of new passenger cars in January 2025 more than doubled compared with the same period a year earlier, sb.by reports citing the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA)
The BAA said that sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles totalled 4,299 units in January. The LADA brand has become a new leader in the Belarusian market, taking the first place in January with sales of 1,706 cars and a market share of 39.7 percent.
“An important moment for the new car market was the record share of green vehicles, whose total sales reached 586 units last month, accounting for 14.2 percent of sales in the passenger car segment,” the association said.
In January, sales of new passenger cars more than doubled compared to the same period last year. The appearance of new models and the fact that pricing in Belarus is one of the most affordable for many brands and models compared to other EAEU member states had a positive impact on the market dynamics.
“2025 will see a transformation of the market, which has already been seen last year and was evident in the results of January this year. Belarusian consumers will increasingly opt for hybrid and electric cars,” the BAA said.
They predict that, given the government’s current support for the development of electric transport in Belarus, there will be a significant increase in the electric fleet by the end of the year.
“In February, we will be able to assess the trends in the development of the automotive market with greater accuracy,” the Belarusian Automobile Association emphasised.
