Rybakov to developers of anti-Belarusian sanctions: you will be swept away by peoples who will come to you for a piece of bread

Speaking at the UN Security Council session, Valentin Rybakov, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations, commented on the allegations against our country regarding human rights violations. The diplomat called them more than exotic and addressed those who develop and implement sanctions against Belarus that threaten the whole world.

“I would like to remind you about illegitimate sanctions against Belarusian potash fertilisers. Of course, potassium fertilisers should not be eaten. But, as you all know, they are a guarantee of future harvests. The lack of these products in the world markets – and according to some statistical estimates, Belarus accounts for up to a third of the world production of potash fertilisers – will lead to the death of tens of millions of people from starvation. I’d like to appeal to those who develop and implement these sanctions: you are depriving people of their basic right: the right to life. But after that, you have the audacity to lecture us on how we should respect human rights in your understanding.”

Valentin Rybakov recalled the consequences of such decisions, “Sooner or later you will simply be swept away either by your own peoples or by millions of those who will come to you from the countries that you are destroying today. These people will come to you not for mythical human rights in your understanding, but for a piece of bread to feed their families, their children. I think, you will go down in history not as politicians, but as criminals and serial killers.”
