Russian Foreign Ministry: Western media distort situation in Ukraine
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that, during his talks with the Turkish side in Istanbul, he had informed his colleagues in detail about what is happening in Ukraine, noting that the situation is purposefully distorted by Western media, RIA Novosti reports
Following the talks, Mr. Vershinin said, “We discussed in detail what is happening in Ukraine, Donbass and Russia’s new regions, trying to inform the Turkish side in detail about the true situation – emphasising an absolutely aggressive behaviour of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and attacks on the civilian population of Donbass and other Russian territories."
The politician added that it was important for Russia ‘to convey to Turkey this situation, which is – sadly – deliberately distorted by the Western media’. "Fake information is spread in large volumes. Let me remind you that it was here, in Istanbul, that the last round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine took place. You remember how it all ended: by aggressive and unconstructive behaviour of the Ukrainian side. We, in turn, voiced readiness to hold discussions on the basis of the goals announced during the special military operation,” he stressed.
