Russian Foreign Intelligence Chief: US-led Western bloc regards Belarus and Russia as single geopolitical centre of power
The Western bloc, led by the United States, regards Belarus and Russia as a single geopolitical centre of power that is able to withstand external threats – as stated by the Chief of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, following today’s meeting of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, with the leaders of delegations participating in the meeting of the CIS heads of security agencies and intelligence services
"The information – that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service obtains – indicates that the Western bloc, led by the United States, regards Russia and Belarus as a single geopolitical centre of power that is able to withstand external threats," Mr. Naryshkin said. “In many ways, this ability of the Union State of Russia and Belarus to develop quite successfully and consistently in an unfavourable external environment is connected precisely with the activities of the special services, including Belarus’ State Security Committee and Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.”
Mr. Naryshkin stressed that the special services of both states are focused on the challenges and threats posed by a group of ‘totalitarian-liberal’ regimes of the West. “We are constantly monitoring them, developing methods of counteraction, and I must say that we are succeeding. The relations between the special services of Belarus and Russia are confidential and systemic,” he added.
