Russian Foreign Intelligence Chief: creation of security system in Eurasia from Minsk to Pyongyang possible
A security system covering the space from Minsk to Pyongyang can be created in Eurasia to replace the security space stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok – as stated by the Chief of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, in his talk with the Razvedchik [Intelligence Officer] magazine, TASS reports
"At one time, we offered Westerners to build a common security space from Lisbon to Vladivostok, they did not want that," he said. "Well, we will build a new architecture without them – i.e. from Minsk to Pyongyang."
Mr. Naryshkin recalled that, in the summer of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the initiative to create a new collective security system in Eurasia to replace the obviously bankrupt Euro-Atlantic model. "Today, the topic of the formation of an equal and indivisible security contour on the Eurasian continent without the military presence of external powers has already firmly entered the international discourse. It was also raised on the side-lines of the BRICS summit in Kazan," he added.
