Russian FM: EU continues to ignore multipolar world-building process

The EU continues to ignore the objective process of shaping the contours of a fairer multipolar world order – as stated by Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organisations Kirill Logvinov, who attended the 81st session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok, TASS reports

“The EU member states still refuse to acknowledge the fact that new centres of political and economic influence are emerging in the world. Accordingly, Brussels continues to ignore the objective process of shaping the contours of a fairer multipolar world order, in which every state – regardless of size, population and other factors – has the inalienable right to pursue an independent foreign policy based on national interests,” Mr. Logvinov said in an interview.

“During the 81st session of ESCAP, the emergence of a new world order is clearly felt. When we say that the EU has resorted to neo-colonial methods in relation to other countries, believe me, this is not a figure of speech. It’s really easier, more familiar and more convenient for them. However, I am sure that sooner or later the Western minority will be forced to leave the imaginary ‘comfort zone’ and realise that international relations should be built exclusively on a mutually respectful and equal basis,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasised.
