Russian FM: BRICS boasts unique resources to solve global problems
The BRICS member countries have unique resources and impressive human potential to solve global problems – as stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, TASS reports
At the opening of the Russia, India, Africa: Lessons from the Past and Prospects for the Future international forum, the Russian diplomat recalled that BRICS faces various global challenges in the current conditions of rapid changes in international relations, and they include ‘overcoming poverty in a number of regions, countering climate change, environmental threats and natural disasters, as well as protecting sovereignty and the fight against neocolonial practices’.
“The BRICS countries have unique resources and huge human, cultural and intellectual potential that can and should be effectively used to solve these problems," Ms. Zakharova said in her video message to the forum participants. She stressed that ‘the development of infrastructure and logistics, the processing of raw materials and, most importantly, the training of highly qualified personnel’ are an important step towards achieving these goals.
"In addition, interaction in the field of the economy and investments will help intensify financial co-operation between the BRICS members and reduce dependence on external factors," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
