A branch of the Embassy of the Russian Federation will be opened in Mogilev — as discussed during today’s meeting between Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Isachenko and Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Belarus Vladimir Vanke, held in Mogilev, sb.by reports
During the meeting, the parties discussed economic and cultural co-operation between Belarus and Russia, highlighting the important role of interregional relations. Mr. Isachenko pointed out that 78 Russian regions engage in trade with the Mogilev Region, and co-operation agreements have been signed with 29 of these regions.
“A strong economy forms the basis for interstate co-operation. Russia is our main partner in foreign trade. Undoubtedly, the opening of a Russian Embassy branch in Mogilev will help strengthen economic, interregional, and cultural connections,” Mr. Isachenko stressed. “Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov rightly emphasised that opening Russian Embassy branches in the regions brings diplomacy closer to the people.”
Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Belarus Vladimir Vanke, in turn, emphasised the importance of this step for both countries, saying, “The branch is practically already open and functioning, even though it is currently operating under temporary conditions. We still need to address some organisational issues. The official inauguration of the building where the branch staff will work will happen a little later. Having diplomatic services within walking distance is more than just a saying; it provides local residents the chance to handle their consular and diplomatic needs without traveling to Minsk.”
The Mogilev Region is home to various groups of people who will benefit from easier access to different types of diplomatic assistance. The branch will also serve as a convenient location for tourists and professionals visiting the region on economic assignments. Mr. Vanke emphasised that this is not merely about proximity but represents new opportunities emerging in Mogilev, “For the region’s residents, issues like electronic appointments and waiting in queues will be eliminated. Being able to handle all these issues locally — such as receiving consultations or initial advice — is very important.”
The Russian Embassy’s branch will be situated on Leninskaya Street in Mogilev.
