Russia ready to supply gas to EU
Russia is ready to supply gas to the EU countries if they are interested in this – as noted by the spokesman for the Russian Embassy in France, Alexander Makogonov, RIA Novosti reports
In his talk with the BFMTV channel, Mr. Makogonov commented on whether there will be gas in the EU this winter, “Ask yourself, ask the European leaders whether they want to receive Russian gas. We are ready to supply it.” He added that the difficulties dealing with gas supplies from Russia to Europe had been primarily caused by anti-Russian sanctions imposed on the operating gas pipelines.
“We would sincerely like to know if Europe wants to receive our gas. It is not Russia that has imposed sanctions on the gas pipeline and that is blocking all gas supplies. For example, Poland imposed sanctions on the Yamal-Europe pipeline which is going through Belarus and Poland. They no longer want to receive Russian gas, so the pipeline is empty now,” the spokesman noted.
Mr. Makogonov also recalled that Nord Stream I no longer works due to technical difficulties related to anti-Russian restrictions, while Nord Stream II had not been launched at all. “It was finished last September. It is simply needed to press a button to make it start functioning – but nobody wants this. Ukraine is blocking the part of the gas pipeline that crosses its territory," he stated.
