Russia handed over to Belarus copies of historical documents from the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Empire, dedicated to the first partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, on the occasion of its 250th anniversary. The event was attended by Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, as well as heads of diplomatic missions and diplomats of embassies of several countries.

The transferred copies include the Russian-Prussian and Russian-Austrian conventions on the first partition of Poland, the Warsaw emergency peace treaty on the annexation of certain Polish lands to Russia, the notes of Aleksandr Bezborodko, a member of the Foreign Affairs Office in charge of Polish affairs, addressed to Catherine II with her handwritten resolution.

The originals of these documents are on display at a special exhibition that opened at the Russian Foreign Ministry. For the first time, they left the repository of the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Empire.
